I’m always telling my mum that she’s the best mum ever. (Except when I’m cross with her – which happens most days). Despite all her misdemeanours – limiting reading time, insisting on sleep, hiding the pick ‘n mix – I think she’s actually quite cool. She says I’ll change my mind in a couple of years, so she’s making the most of it.
But even I can see she’s nothing like the Tesco Mum of the Year finalists. These women work tirelessly for others, not just their own families, but other families in need. And what’s more, many of them do it after having suffered tragedy in their own lives. The loss of your health, of your child’s choices in life, or worse – of your child, must be very difficult to come back from. But these Mums have not only come back, but they have galvanised something in their experiences to inspire them to make the world a better place.
That’s a special kind of Mum.
I can’t begin to describe the finalists – please click the link to take a look for yourself. Judging information is released next week, so do go and check out some of these truly inspirational women before then.
