Am I a Bad Mummy? Bad Birthday Cake

Shhhh! It’s Mummy here. This is a secret. I have just made GG’s birthday cake. It has taken most of today, starting with the purchase of several packets of sweets for embellishment, and ending with a covert evening of eating decorating – what cake? Me, making a cake? No – why? The cake of choice came from Australian Women’s Weekly Kids Party Cakes and is supposed to look like this: Well, not living in Australia, I don’t have access to Life-savers, nor do I know what a lamington is, but I bought every kind of sweet available that looked vaguely promising, before discovering …

Wot So Funee? 5: When I Grow Up

A very simple Wot So Funee? post from us this week as it is half-term and we have been running Mummy ragged all week playing games, taking trips, putting on fashion-shows: y’know, the kind of thing that needs a lot of tidying up afterwards. Consecutively she has not had a lot of spare time for doing clever-clogs vlogs! Whilst Mummy regresses to childish fun this week, we have been thinking about what we want when we grow up. For me this is simple, I have always wanted to be the one in charge. I want to decide what I do, and when; …

I Want a Bra

I want a bra I recently turned 7. Daddy says he can’t believe how old I am; Mummy doesn’t know where the time has gone. I think I am old enough to wear a bra. I know exactly what I want; I’ve tried on enough of Mummy’s to know what I like: I want lace. I want a bra. Don’t get me wrong, I do know that some things are not appropriate for a girl my age. Mummy recently acquired a set of matching bra and knickers from the gorgeous Freya Lingerie, and whilst I coveted them for their lace and …

Meet Me on a Monday

I have made a fab blog discovery at Never Growing Old, and she does a really cute link-up every Monday whereby bloggers answer questions about themselves in an attempt to let the world know who they really are. Mummy says there is plenty she doesn’t know about me, so she has asked me this week’s questions in an effort to understand me better! Here goes: My favourite kind of animal is… a puppy. No, a kitten. No, a puppy….can I have two? Do you like your handwriting? OMG! I love my handwriting. I can actually write with joined up letters! It …

BritMums Blog Prompt…

…If I could have one day to myself I would… Britmums is the voice of Mummy bloggers in the UK, and each week they issue a prompt, a nudge, if you like, to get bloggers thinking about what they might write. Mummy has, this far, failed to join in, not because the prompt doesn’t inspire her, but because it hasn’t inspired me. This week is different… Lots of Mummies on Britmums are talking on their blogs about how they would have a lie-in. If I were left to my own devices for a day, I would wake up as early as possible. I …

Wot So Funee? Week 4 The Boden Catalogue

You know how when you see something in a catalogue that you really like, you mark it, maybe by turning down a corner, ticking it, or some other method of remembering it before you log-on to make the purchase? Well I do that too. I underline things, with varying degrees of intensity, depending on how much I like them, then shove it under Mummy’s nose and cross my fingers. When the new Boden catalogue arrived the other day Mummy was getting tea ready and was intrigued to hear this from my corner of the table: Mmmmm, yummy, gotta have that, …

Wot So Funee? Spelling is….

This week Wot So Funee? is all about spelling in the Actually Mummy household; specifically, the differences in ability between me and the Bug at our different stages of the literacy journey. It is also Mummy’s first attempt at a Vlog, which is quite funny in itself! Spot the edits 😉 Now Mummy tells me that I was equally as bad at putting together words when I was the Bug’s age, but I find that difficult to believe, don’t you? Now go ahead and link up your own #funee posts with the linky tool below. Then go visit the other …

Gary Barlow Followed Me On Twitter!

I was sorry to hear Nickie at Typecast’s news last week that Keith Chegwin blocked her on Twitter, and I have subsequently begun a study of celebrity tweeting to see just how interesting I am to the wider, non-blogging world. Think of it as a kind of experiment. The challenge I have set myself is to gain me a celebrity follower! I should just make one thing clear. Gary Barlow did not actually follow me on Twitter. But I did follow him last night, and so did 210,809 other people, which got me thinking about digital marketing. Within 2 minutes …

Just Get Him a Puppy! Dear So and So…

The puppy discussions have reached epic proportions in the Actually Mummy household this week, so I have decided to wade in and complete the trilogy of Dear So and So letters…. Dear Bug….. Do not worry. Mummy has promised not to get you a Coral Snake, therefore it will not bite your puppy and he will not run inside and hide. Coral snakes are poisonous and will actually kill your puppy. What you want is a Milk Snake – they’re fine….Always here to help, your very intelligent sister x Dear Rhino…. Do you realise what you have done by bringing …

Wot So Funee? Week 2

I’m going to swear today. Look away now if you don’t want to see, because I am going to use an actual square-word. You see, the naughtiest boy in my class said the F-word last week. I told Mummy and she put on her ‘I’m not cross, just really concerned’ face. I couldn’t repeat it, it was so bad, so she asked me to spell it. ‘F-A-R-T’ I guiltily whispered. She laughed – again! She also laughed when the Bug swore. Not quite 2 years old, and well into his puzzles, he was in the middle of completing a Thomas …

How to Own a Colour

Mummy bought a colour today. She is now the proud owner of Blazing Autumn, courtesy of Own a colour , an initiative supporting children’s charity Unicef. I helped her pick it out. I begged for Flamingo Pink, Party Pink, or even Sugar Plum, but she was having none of it. Mummy wanted Blazing Autumn. This picture is the reason why. M&D’s wedding took place in November, not because it was the only date left and they couldn’t wait, but because this cloak had been on her mind since she was a little girl. The church and its Boston Ivy would …

Should I Support Ipswich or Chelsea?

I don’t know if any of you are football fans, but a subject which often comes up in our house is which team the Bug and me should support. Daddy’s home team is Ipswich, but since these days we live a lot closer to Chelsea and Arsenal (and because, let’s face it Ipswich are rubbish) Mummy argues that we could get more out of supporting a premiership team that actually has a chance of winning something 😉 This debate gets quite heated when other adults are involved. (Whoever said it is possible to have a grown-up argument has quite clearly …
