A new Moshi Monsters app – and what the Bug gets up to on Twitter!

This is a Linky post – go ahead and link up This week we collected some great quotes from other funee kids and were set to do another Wot So Funee? compilation post. But you will have to wait, because at the last minute the Bug came to our rescue with a video review of the new Moshi Monsters app – and some rather naughty stuff he got up to on the iPad! There are 100 digital stickers to customise over 60 Moshlings. Which will take about as long as it takes to drive to Grandma’s house, so that’s all …

Wot So Funee? All your kids!

It began last week with an erroneous tweet from Mummy. “Does anyone have an example of things children say that make you laugh?” she confidently intoned from the spaghetti junction that is her Tweetdeck account. She has a few twitter accounts – she chose the wrong one. The first response came back: Swiftly followed by: Now, @Ollie91 blogs, but he is by no means a Mummy Blogger. It has something to do with being a 2nd year Uni student. So Mummy got to thinking that there must be loads of people (who don’t regularly see fit to write a post …

GG interviews author Safia Guerras about her first book: Lou Lou

Well, a film reviewer, and now a journalist. What wonderful opportunities I get to have a go at new things, just by dint of Mummy having a blog! Does it matter that I rarely win anything significant for my efforts? Not a jot! I get to do stuff that most children would give up their Haribo for, in a safe environment, with Mummy’s support and help. So, I may not be Odeon’s official junior film reviewer. So what? I had great fun giving it a go and playing with video editing! And today, I may not be launching a career …

Brands take note: Online, customer service is all that matters

Mummy bloggers hold a lot of sway online. Like no other, the parenting blogger has a hugely supportive community of writers, all of them opinionated, and all of them with an audience of readers. In addition, they write about things that plenty of non bloggers want to understand better, like common parenting issues, and the best products to solve colic/reflux/teething/tantrums/sleep deprivation/bullying/etc,etc,etc… So we are often offered products to write about on our blogs. Brands, no matter how cool their product is, live and die by what their customers say – amongst each other, and to potential markets not yet reached. …

Banana fudge muffins recipe: the Bug’s favourite

Following my first attempt at hosting Listography for Kate Takes 5, with my Top 5 Yoghurts, the Bug has been pestering Mummy for a post of his own. I may have mentioned that Daddy likes to bake muffins on a Sunday, and has become something of an improvisation expert with his random flavours. Chilli chocolate muffins was not one of his better attempts 😯 The Bug rates the muffin quality each week and came up with his top 5 muffins: Does that make sense? Can you tell what he’s written? Granted, his handwriting is a little primitive. He then took …

Comfort Food

Ice cream, candy floss, fries on the beach. Pizza slice, stick of rock, Slush Puppies that make your nose ache. Crisp iceberg lettuce, juicy prawns and a tart marie-rose sauce. Fried fish and chilled Sauvignon, lemon Fanta for me. Crushed ice Mojitos, BBQ’d halloumi cheese, olives and roasted peppers. Lush red strawberries, picked from the fruit-farm, nestled in a cloud of whipped cream and meringue. Spanish omelette wrapped in foil, popping wine from plastic flutes, marshmallows singed on a stick over the campfire. Fruit tarts, watermelon wedges, ice-pops and lemon sorbet. Oh, but hang on a minute – it’s raining. …

Cheese and Bacon Salad: keeping the kids happy!

This week Apetina sent us some cheese, and asked us to create a salad recipe. It had to be a salad that succeeds in keeping the kids happy. Lets just ponder that concept for a moment…. Salad+Happy Kids. Hmm… Mummy began the process by asking for some suggestions, thinking that some democracy might lead us halfway down the path to culinary harmony. Here is our initial list: Lettuce (the basis of every good salad; I like it, the Bug doesn’t) Tomatoes (the Bug’s favourite, I am allergenic) Carrots Chocolate Once again – hmmmm… Undaunted, we constructed a salad together – would …

I want to be a film reviewer

I’m 7, right? Earning a crust is not high on my list of priorities. But if I did have to choose a career, and the lead in a West End musical was not on the cards, I would be a dress designer. Me and my best friend will rent an office by the station, I will design dresses, and L will create them. The Bug will run a coffee shop in an adjacent room, to divert our customers while they wait. Or…. I could be an official film reviewer. I did a demo here, if you like it will you …

Help with reading from the Ministry of Letters

Do you have children who are soon to start school? Are you keen to get them acquainted with letters, ready for the big scary world of phonics and literacy lessons in school? Well don’t be. Souvenirs from Thailand – Daddy’s Home!

Daddy’s home! “I’m so excited I can’t get my socks on!” GG Daddy has been away in Thailand for the last 2 weeks. This morning, at the crack of dawn, we burst out of bed and down the M4 with nothing but a bag of Banana Fudge muffins and a bottle of juice so we could wait at the arrivals gate of Heathrow’s Terminal 3. At precisely 5.46 am we spotted him, and the Bug and I broke the no-entry rules to be sure we got to him as quickly as possible. Mummy was pleased to see him too. Until …

My embarrassing Mum

How far do you go to get a vote of confidence? How much are you prepared to have people laugh at you? I have the answer to that question. As far as my Mum is concerned, if you’re laughing, she’s happy. Always the clown, the tact-free one who says what everyone else is thinking, without thinking. That’s my embarrassing Mum. Anyway, here she is again, allowing the nation to ridicule her in her choice of fantasy boyfriend. Mind you, she’s not alone in her  MADness… And if you’re not convinced about my Mum and her craziness, you can listen to …

Saturday is Caption Day

Me and the Bug do get up to some shenanigans/mallarkey/nonsense/trouble (delete according to whether you are Grandpa/Daddy/Grandma/Mummy). But Mummy actually has no recollection of what on earth we were doing on here last summer. Can you help with a caption? All the captions on this side are driven by the need to compete for the attention of the caption genius that is Mammasaurus!
